Recycling
We all are much more aware of the need to recycle in order to protect our environment for future generations. Thankfully more and more materials are recycled today.
Outdoor Creative Concepts www.occoutdoors.com ,is making every effort to incorporate recycled materials into every facet of the manufacturing of its site furnishings.
OCC research puts steel at the head of the list. According to the American Iron & Steel Institute, http://www.steel.org/ average annual recoup of steel averages 68 percent.
The amount of reclaimed steel blended in to a new product varies depending on the steel make process from a low of 16% to a high of 100%.
The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries www.isri.org states there were 81.4 million tons of steel and iron collected in the United States during 2006. There is up to 74% energy savings use scrap steel when compared to traditional processing of virgin iron ore.
The use of recycled steel does not impact standards set by the American Society for Testing & Materials, (ASTM) www.astm.org
Outdoor Creative Concepts continue the endeavor of increasing the recycled percentage
in their products. GO GREEN!
For a material to be recycled the infrastructure must be in place to receive ship and recycle and manufacture a new product from a material. One of the most recycled materials with the largest infrastructure in the world for recycling is steel. This is one more reason that we at OCC believe that steel is the best material for all of our products.
Steel's cost-to-strength ratio makes it very hard for any other material to compete in the site furnishings market.
The steel in the car you drove 10 ten years ago most likely has had several previous lives as other steel products and could be used in our products today!
